James Ivey was born in Ipswich, Suffolk and studied Music Technology at Guildhall University.
After graduating he went to work for TSC (The Solutions Company) selling and installing studio equipment. This included designing and installing systems for Pete Townsend of The Who, Ian Broudie of The Lightning Seeds, Mark “Spike” Stent and many more.
James left TSC to work in pop video production with FAB Audio, working on promos for U2, Pulp, Kylie, and Oasis amongst others.
James toured the world as a drummer and musical director on many cruise lines and performed as part of the house band at Butlins.
Now back in London he works for Avid Technology as a demonstrator. This allows him to carry his love of all things audio back into the studio world and has also enabled him to qualify as a Pro Tools certified operator.
Location Recordings is an outlet for James’ many musical interests, as he loves nothing more than simply making great music.
